Put the Glass in the Trash

Since the inception curbside recycling in our community, Madison has been proud to accept glass bottles and jars among our long list of items for recycling. However, beginning February 1, 2016, our recycling vendor will no longer be able to accept glass bottles and jars for curbside recycling. There are several reasons for this change such as broken glass causing damage to the machinery and contaminating other recyclables. Further, glass is heavy causing transportation costs to rise.

We encourage you to change your recycling habits and either find alternatives to glass bottles and jars when shopping or get into the habit of putting your glass in with your trash. Note: As of 2019, Morgan County also no longer accepts glass at recycling drop-off stations.
