Historic Preservation District

Heart of the Historic District

Downtown Madison is at the center of the Madison Historic District, where all changes and new construction follow the established historic pattern... thus reinforcing our valued local heritage and lucrative tourism product. The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) uses custom design guidelines - like subdivision covenants - to guide its decisions as well as to provide free design assistance.
