Downtown Madison & Madison City Hall
GENERAL LOCATION: The City of Madison is centrally located in northeast Georgia between Atlanta and Augusta, Athens and Macon. Downtown Madison is the historic and vibrant seat of Morgan County,
and Madison City Hall is located at 132 N. Main Street, one block north of the downtown's central square. Built in 1938, City Hall is the orange-red brick, Colonial Revival-style building located just beyond the Madison Police Station and across from the Bank of Madison. Except for municipal holidays noted in the City Calendar, City Hall is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
FROM ATLANTA: Madison is located approximately an hour and a half east of Atlanta. Travel east on Interstate 20 approximately 60 miles to Exit 114 (US 441/129 North). Turn left and cross over Interstate 20 going north for 2.5 miles. As the road continues north it will enter the Madison Historic District and become Main Street, delivering you directly into Downtown Madison.
FROM AUGUSTA: Madison is located approximately an hour and a half west of Augusta. Travel west on Interstate 20 approximately 75 miles to Exit 114 (US 441/129 North). Exit right and continue north for 2.5 miles. As the road continues north it will enter the Madison Historic District and become Main Street, delivering you directly into Downtown Madison.
FROM ATHENS: Madison is located approximately a half hour south of Athens. Travel south on US Hwy 441 approximately 25 miles to its intersection with GA Hwy 278. Turn right over the bridge and continue southwest to Madison. As the road continues south it will enter the Madison Historic District and become Main Street, delivering you directly into Downtown Madison.
FROM MACON: Madison is located approximately an hour and a half north of Macon. Travel north on Interstate 75 into Macon (ignore Interstate 475). At the point Interstate 75 splits, veer right taking Hwy 16 toward Savannah looking immediately for the first exit. Turn left under the overpass and continue north on US Hwy 441 to Gray. In Gray, cross over the railroad and turn left continuing north to Madison. Cross Interstate 20 and travel about 2.5 miles. As the road continues north it will enter the Madison Historic District and become Main Street, delivering you directly into Downtown Madison. |
