An opportunity zone is a location-based state tax benefit district, where it literally pays to start or expand a business and create Georgia jobs. The Downtown Development Authority of Madison (DDA) secured this designation for Madison's commercial areas within the Urban Redevelopment Area in December 2011. Creating two or more jobs? Ask about this $3,500 per job tax credit.
