Functions
The Special Programs office serves as the city's general liaison and information officer to the public. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating Madison Main Street Program
- Directing marketing and tourism city initiatives
- Coordinating efforts with the Convention and Visitors Bureau
- Reviewing grants for heritage attractions and facade improvements
- Coordinating unique municipal projects
- Coordinating city-sponsored events
- Reviewing permits for city-licensed events (e.g. use of public property, including public assembly, parades, and road races)
